Most streamed artist on Apple Music 2021, were Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, and BTS. According to (Denman, 2021)author explains there were others artist as well such as Olivia Rodrigo who had topped the Spotify’s list with most streamed song of the year, debut song “Drivers License” which gained 1.1 billion streams. Other songs of the artist were “Good 4 U” which placed fourth as the most-streamed song in Spotify.
Artist such as Lil Nas X had also topped the list by coming in the top five with the hit song “Montero (Call me By Your Name), followed by The Kid Laroi’s “Stay” featuring Justin Bieber. Having more than 9.1 billion streams during the time period in 2021, Puerto Rican Rapper Bad Bunny had been Spotify’s most streamed artist for the second consecutive year. According to him, he feels like not going for number one, but believes in just making music which he loves and enjoys doing.
BTS have also had a stellar year in Apple Music, their hit single Dynamite emerged as one of the streamed and most played song of the year. Although, it is more focused on the American population. Followed by Ariana Grande’s Positions, For the Night by Pop Smoke and Blinding lights by The Weeknd. The K-pop group believes that they mostly enjoy the success in the Mena region, with songs such as Butter, Dynamite, Permission to Dance and Life Goes On were also the top four most streamed K-pop songs on Spotify in the region such as UAE in 2021.
Lastly, other Mena artist such as the Moroccan rapper ElGrandeToto who is popular among the Arab artist in 2021, followed by Jordan’s Issam Alnajjar who is in the third position.
