Tips on How to Write & Publish a better Blog or an Article.

So just read an article on how there were methods a blogger could make sufficient income, and it was quite fascinating to learn and understand the points and outcome from it. Firstly, one needs to understand that there are different factors which a blogger needs to work towards such as staying focused on their respective niches which could be anything whether cooking, music, or it could even be about books or something which you love to write dearly about. Planning out how you want to construct your article or blog is equally important so here are a couple of points that could help you down the road to make just a bit of side income.

According to (Rachel Leist, 2020) author explains that if you happen to read or go through an article or a blog post, chances would be that you would end up learning some tips & tricks from that article which would be of good use as it would be providing educational ideas which could be understood and implied or improvised on by the blogger and the writer on their respective article. Which makes the audience who reads it connect with the writer or the author respectively. So, here is a couple of points for beginners that the author has stated and also provided a clear explanation for a better understanding before starting.

  1. What is a Blog Post?

Understanding what a blog is important in the first phase for a writer, it is basically an article, guide or newsletter which is published on a blog section of a website. The blog post covers a specific topic that is educational in nature, but it could range from different topics from 600 to 2,000+ words. Addition of other media sources such as images, videos, infographics, and interactive charts as well.

Blog post usually helps an individual and their business to grow by providing a tool to publish insights, thoughts, and different stories on the websites about the specific topic which the writer wants to discuss or educate the audience about. Factors such as brand awareness, credibility, conversion, and revenue are also part of it. Lastly, it also helps to drive traffic towards the website that a writer wants to write about.

There are different factors to consider before starting a blog, they are

  • Determining the topics to cover

  • Name of the blog

Before writing down any words on the blog, having a clear understanding about who you writing to and who is going to be reading is important, that is the “audience” to whom you would be writing and also who would be learning from your blog. Asking questions such as “What do they want to know about? What would resonate with them? “ questions like these are important to be added to the blog post/article.

a) Checking the Competitors

There is no other way to take inspiration than looking at your competitors and getting ideas from their work so that they could be improvised properly on your respective blog post. Especially, referencing popular, highly-reviewed blog posts because the implementation of different strategies and execution strategies is what got your competitors to grow with credibility. Angles to keep in mind, such as visuals, copy, and topics.

b. Determining the Topics to Cover

Before anything is written, the first step is in picking up the topic on which you as a blogger would love or want your audience to know about. There are couple of ways in which a topic could chosen, but here are some helpful points below:

  1. Who do I want to Write to?
  2. How well do I understand this topic?
  3. Is this topic relevant?

Writing a different point from the crowd is one of the important things to keep in mind as a blogger, because it is all about how you are narrating a short story or a long one. A key to determine the trajectory of the blog’s future and also selecting it’s avenues on the process of it.

  • What unique experience makes you a trusted expert or thought leader on the topic?
  • What problem will the article solve for the readers?
  • Will you share your opinions on trending debates?
  • Teach your readers how to do something?
  • Compare or share original research?

5) Name of the blog

Providing an identity to the blog, is an important factor because it is that name through which the audience would connect and would remember the work or things written on it. It could be taken as an opportunity, where being creative and putting the name which gives the reader an specific idea about the things they could expect from the blog. Here are couple of tips on how the blog name could be chosen:

  • Keep the blog name easy to say and spell
  • Link your blog name to your brand message
  • Consider what your target audience is looking for.

Domain enables you to allow the users get an access to your website or blog landing page, domain is a part of the web address where someone who use it to find the website of your written work online. Example of a domain is www.yourblog.com this is a domain which is linked to your blog website.

There are various CMS platform which offer subdomains as a free service, where your blog lives on that CMS, than your business website. Most website hosting services charge individual very little to host an original domain — infact, website costs can be as inexpensive as $3 per month if your committed towards it for 36-month term. There are couple of popular web hosting services which could be found over the internet such as

7) Choosing an CMS for the set up of a blog

You might wondering now what is an CMS? CMS (Content Management System) is a software application which allows users to build and maintain website without having to code from the start. CMS platform can manage domains (Where you create your website) and subdomains (where you create a webpage which connects to an existing website).

Consumer of HubSpot host their web content through CMS Hub. Other option for self-hosting could be WordPress website which porivdes hosting sites such as WP Engine. Among the two, domain and sub-domain which ever are created for the blog for both purposes you would require an hosting service after CMS has been chosen.

8) Customization on the looks of the Blog

Customizing appearance for the blog is quite important because it reflects the theme for the content according to your plan on creating a brand. Such as if you happen to write about sustainability and environment then green color is to be kept in ones mind while they design the blog. But if you already happen to manage a website but are writing your first post for that website. Then it is to be ensured that the article should be consistent with the website appearance and its subject matter as well. Two ways in which it could be considered are as follows:

  1. Logo: It could the name of the business or a picture which resembles the business. Which will remind the blog readers on who’s publishing the content. (How heavily is it that you want the brand if all up to the business which you want the readers to read about)
  2. “About” Page: There are couple of other article which have explained what “about” helps in your business. In your blog’s “About” section that is wher the extension are emphaised on the highest level. Writers should consider it as the blog’s mission statement, which would help them in serving the support on the goals and objectives of the company.

9) Writing your first blog post & Article

Once all the requirement above are stated and done, then it is time to write or publish depending on the writer. So while the design and the layout are quite fun and interesting but function of it is also required at the same time. At the end of the day, it is the content which will drive the readers towards your page and once they are hooked with the content they keep on coming for more. So how could that be you may ask that question, it could happen by choosing a topic which you are passionate about, targeting a low-volume keyword for optimization, Google terms which are understandable to your audience, Finding questions and terms which are related to the topic, creating a working title, and lastly creating an outline for the blog post.
